ALBUM REVIEW: ANTHONY HAMILTON "BACK TO LOVE"

By: Jacoby Miles

To be straight forward, this is an album that neo-soul needed to keep the genre relevant after the style has been on a nosedive lately. The Charlotte, North Carolina native’s fifth album is equipped with soulful tunes that are very heartening and upbeat. The vibe of certain tracks like “Best of Me” will remind you of those touchy-feely whispers that Teddy Pendergrass and Al Green thrived on, and tracks like “Mad” and “Sucka For You” sound like songs straight out of a Cee Lo Green’s playbook. Even more, he joins forces with Keri Hilson on the track “Writing On The Wall” which incorporates a funky, hip-hop mood into the mix. Overall, Hamilton does not disappoint his fans on this album and is definitely a must-have for lovers of neo-soul.
