The fourth album from Los Campesinos, “Hello Sadness,” is not a huge jump from their previous albums, quality wise, but they do show that they are maturing into themselves. Gareth Campesino, the lead singer, appears to be discovering his vocal strengths throughout the album with bubbly songwriting on melancholy themes – the miseries of romance and death mostly. Nonetheless, the despairing vocals are matched up nice with popish-upbeat melodies and slower, harmonious tunes such as “Tundra.” This might not be the case for everyone, but the tracks appear to sound more catchy and enjoyable after their first impressions. Long story short, this is their best album to date and is quite trendy in comparison to other indie rock tunes.
