Sonny Moore, a.k.a., Skrillex, is a psychotic master of the dance music called dubstep and it shows on his latest album Bangarang. If you can imagine this 23-year-old, with his wildly signature haircut, at a live show making the crowd go haywire, this album will be euphoria for you, especially if your sound-buds straddle the fence between chaotic and riveting. This naturally wired up guy has really crashed the music scene in 2011 and had dibs on five Grammy’s this year to show for it! The energy that bursts from the womb of his musical creations is like the welcome mat to idea of letting loose and completely letting your inner frenzy take over in replace of the quiet, appreciative you.
This is the noise of Generation Y, so if you enjoy calm and predicable sounds you will be out of your comfort zone listening to this unstable cannon play. If Skrillex is discovering himself through his music, he is headed in the wrong direction of sanity and composed – and that’s a good thing if you ask me! Tracks like “Kyoto,” featuring Sirah, and “Breakn’ A Sweat” are examples of his thrilling allure to the restless souls of us youth. Although his music has not significantly evolved from his previous albums, he does appear to be in search of that secret ingredient that’ll unleash some WUB beast!
