"Stone Street Makes their Mark with a Distinctive Sound"

As it comes to making a mark in the music industry, the inimitable Stone Street of Tallahassee, FL has quite a bit to offer; defining themselves with an easy groove of funky reggae-rock.  Unafraid to take risk, Stone Street has the potential to reach out to a broad fan base. “…we do not want to get pigeon holed into one set of ideas,” says the bass player, Jake. Stone Street acknowledges their drummer, Dillon, to be big part of their distinctive sound.  Jake, Neal and Dillon look forward to sharing with the world their unique sound as they stay steadfast to their craft; practicing as a band at least twice a week despite their individual commitments. Outside of school and work, music  is a top priority to Stone Street. Neal, the guitar player, also plays for another local band that is fairly successful at booking shows as well.

Initiating as Sour Flower in a middle school talent show, Stone Street has matured into an incredible collaborative with lyrics that are inspired from everyday life. Jake and Neal are original members of Stone Street. Dillon  jumped on board later bringing with him the reggae flair that shaped their sound. Jake says, “Dillon came along and it was a perfect match...his conservative-like personality grounds the group.”  The revamped Stone Street has been underway for two years.

Stone Street recalls their most memorable moment as an event at a festival in Brooksville, Florida, “…outside of a mansion with a great stage set,” explains Jake. This event is noted as being an “eye-opener” to the business aspect of music, as the event was poorly executed. Although, “it was a fun experience said Jake,… an hour set with other great bands.”

The laid back partnership that Stone Street has will take them far into their dream of sharing with the world their laid back groove. Bands that inspire Stone Street are the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Radiohead and Pink Floyd. Stone Street inspires their fans by, “…letting the music speak for itself.”
