After 35 years of marriage to Warner Music, Van Halen is swapping labels and will be joining the Universal Music Group's family at Interscope. The upper management at Universal and Interscope pounced on the opportunity to sign the rock band after receiving word of their availability. They prepared a global strategy consisting of merchandising, marketing, touring, and recordings for Van Halen to ensure their success.
There was also a rumor that the band would be signed to Columbia Records according to The Hollywood Reporter, but it quite official that Van Halen will be joining Interscope after Universal provided photographic evidence of Universal's management and members of the band posing together. Van Halen is expected to release their new album, their first since 1984, in 2012 and will make an announcement to the world on Nov. 30 at the Grammy Awards nominations concerts, which will be live on CBS from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Aside from jumping labels, Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth have reunited, and are indeed going to be working together - sorry for the Van Hager fans. The clashing of their egos which occurred 25 years ago has ended and besides for their bassist, Michael Anthony, the band is intact and ready to rock out.
